The electric Batec is a handbike format that is becoming hugely popular in Europe with wheelchair users. The freedom of movement that electric handbikes provide is highly appreciated by riders who see how their daily mobility turns into a smooth, effortless ride. However, the price of these electric mobility aids that attach to the front part of the wheelchair is not easily affordable; that is why from Fotona Mobility we offer our conversion kit specifically adapted for handbikes. The e-kits features a bottle-type li-ion battery whose capacity can be configured by the client.
Electric kits with multi-assistance levels
This e-kit for handbikes incorporates a LCD display that allows the wheelchair user to choose between five assistance levels via a magnetic PAS sensor. For example, when the wheelchair is on flat road, assistance levels 2-3 are the most appropriate ones as they allow the user to travel long distances in less time with very little physical effort. However, when we approach a steep surface or ramp, assistance levels 4-5 allows us to drastically reduce the intensity or our manual pedalling without decreasing in speed. Throttle is provided as an option for disabled users that cannot use the handbike’s pedalling system.

There are several electric motor options for handbikes on the market; however, EU legislation only considers those kits with a maximum nominal power of 250W to be suitable for riding through urban areas. As a consequence, all our handbike e-kits feature a 20″ hub motor wheel (the most common size for handbikes) of 250W; the same power that is used in city electric bikes.
